Lisbon, Portuguese Lisboa is a city, port, capital of Portugal, and the centre of the Lisbon metropolitan area. Located in western Portugal on the Tagus River, it is a fascinating capital city in continental Europe and serves as the country’s chief port, largest city, and commercial, political, and tourist centre. Lisbon owes its historical prominence to its natural harbour, one of the most beautiful in the world.

Lisbon is famous for its sunny weather, great nightlife, colourful buildings, Fado music, and friendly locals. It's also home to famous landmarks like the Belem Tower and Jerónimos Monastery. As for food, Lisbon is famous for its seafood and Pastéis de Belém, a type of custard tart.

It is not without a reason that Lisbon is called the 'city of light'. With an approximate 220 days of sunlight, its wide skies and open brightness illuminate the whole city in a way that is nearly impossible to find anywhere else.
